On Monday, January 29th, I gave my tower talk back to a group of students and teachers. The feedback was nearly unanimous: focus in on one event. Because of the nature of my project, I essentially had to give a historical survey of all of European history and explain all of the different wars and conflicts that preceded and succeeded each of the four attempts at international harmony that I covered. I think that the issue is that my paper/research is a historical survey and it is far-reaching, and I essentially attempted to regurgitate what my paper will be into a 5 minute presentation. I've come away with the conclusion that my research and written work gets to be huge, but my presentation needs to be shorter in order to be cogent. My presentation will shift its focus to one event so that I can explain my points more coherently to an audience that doesn't want to hear a history of Europe.
